About Ice Cream truth

#FoodFact: Most ice-creams we consume don’t contain any milk at all – only vegetable oil!

Even the most reputed brands in India these days are relying on vegetable oil instead of milk to achieve the desired level of “creaminess” in ice creams. This is because vegetable oils are much cheaper than milk while adding volume to the ice-cream.

An ice-cream is a product containing a minimum of 10% of milk fat and as per Indian laws, desserts that don’t meet this criteria do not classify as ice-cream, but must be labelled as ‘frozen desserts’. Check out you ice cream pack to see if the term "frozen dessert" is mentioned in small font.

It is advisable to avoid these frozen desserts as most of them contain harmful trans fats and saturated fats that are linked with heart disease.
